DMAS questions are introduced to students in class 5 as a method for them to learn about the order of operations and improve their problem-solving abilities. These questions often involve mathematical expressions that include multiple operations, and students must use DMAS to determine the correct order in which to solve them.

Math problems involving the four fundamental arithmetic operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division make up the DMAS questions for class 5. Division, Multiplication, Addition, and Subtraction, or DMAS, is the order of operations that students should employ when solving this kind of issue.

The order of operations used to answer mathematical expressions is known as “Division, Multiplication, Addition, and Subtraction,” or DMAS. To get the correct solution, these steps must be taken in a specific order.

DMAS questions for class 5 ( NUMERICAL EXPRESSIONS WITHOUT BRACKETS )

Dmas rule questions for class 5

DMAS RULE

DMAS rule is followed when multiple arithmetic operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division are present in a given mathematical expression.  In ‘DMAS’, D stands for division, M for multiplication, A for addition, and S for subtraction. DMAS represents the order of operations. When a mathematical expression involving all four operations is given, we solve these operations in the order:

  1. Division     2. Multiplication       3. Addition      4.  Subtraction

For example, consider the following cases.

DMAS with two operations for class 5

Ex.  12 – 4 + 7=15
According to the DMAS rule , first we will add 12 and 7 then subtract 4 from the sum of 12 and 7 .
12-4+7 =19-4
= 15

Ex. (8 + 3) – 5= 6
If their is any mathematical expression inside bracket ,  we will solve them first. So will  add 8 and 3 first then subtract  5 from the sum. Hence
(8+3)-5 = 11 – 5
=6

DMAS with three operations for class 5

Ex.  2 + 3 x 4 – 6= 8
According to DMAS , first we will solve multiplication , then addition and after that we will do subtraction. Hence
2 + 3 x 4 – 6 = 2 + 12 – 6
=14-6
=8

Ex. (5 + 2) x 3 – 4=  17
First we will  solve expression inside bracket , means we will add 5 and 2.  After adding  5 and 2 ,  we will  multiply the result with 3 and at last subtract 4 . Therefore
(5 + 2) x 3 – 4= 7 x 3 -4
=21 – 4
=17

Ex.  5 x 3 +8 ÷ 4
Solution. 5 x 3 +8 ÷ 4=  5 x 3 +8 ÷ 4
= 5 x 3 +2
=15+2
=17

DMAS with four operations for class 5

Ex. 5 + 4 × 3 – 9 ÷ 3
Sol. In this example, all the four operations are there, so we have to use DMAS rule.
5+ 4 × 3 – 9 ÷ 3= 5 + 4 × 3 – 3 (Division: 9 ÷ 3 = 3)
= 5 + 12 – 3       (Multiplication: 4 × 3 = 12)
= 17 – 3              (Addition: 5 + 12 = 17)
= 14                     (Subtraction: 17 – 3 = 14)
