# Pemdas problems | Pemdas math equations worksheet PDF with solutions

Pemdas problems

PEMDAS’ is an acronym  for the order of operations.  Each letter represent an operation to calculate the value of mathematical expressions. The operations included in the PEMDAS  are performed from left to right. PEMDAS Stands for  P: Parentheses, E: Exponents ,  M:Multiplication , D: Division,  A: Addition and S: Subtraction. The following acronym will help you remember the PEMDAS Rule.

The following questions  on has different types of questions that can be practiced by the students to get more ideas to simplify the mathematical expressions.

# Pemdas problems(Solved Examples)

(i) (67-18) ÷ 7 x 3

Sol.  (67-18) ÷ 7 x 3=  49÷  7 x 3          (Solving expression  inside parentheses )

=7 x 3                      (Solving  division)

=21

(ii) $\mathbf{4^{2}&space;\times&space;(8-3)}$

Sol. $4^{2}&space;\times&space;(8-3)=&space;4^{2}&space;\times&space;5$

(removing parentheses)

= 16 x 5

= 80

(iii) 100 ÷ 5 × 3 − 46

Sol. According to PEMDAS ,  perform multiplication or division from left to right depending on which operation comes first. So in the given problem , we will solve division first then multiplication as follows.

100 ÷ 5 × 3 − 46 = 20 x 3 -46             (performing division first)

= 60-46                       (Solving multiplication)

=14

(iv) $\mathbf{(10+59-3^{2})}$ ÷ (24 – 4)

Sol. $(10+59-3^{2})$

÷ (24 – 4) =  (10+59 -9) ÷  20

=    (69-9)  ÷  20

=60 ÷ 20

=3

(v) $\mathbf{4&space;\times&space;(12&space;\times&space;6-4^{2})&space;+&space;9}$

Sol.  $4&space;\times&space;(12&space;\times&space;6-4^{2})&space;+&space;9$

= 4 x (12 x 6 -16)+9

= 4 x (72 -16)+9

=4 x 56 +9

=224+9 = 233

(vi) $\mathbf{(19-&space;8&space;)&space;\times&space;(10&space;+&space;4&space;)&space;+&space;8^{2}}$

Sol. $(19-&space;8&space;)&space;\times&space;(10&space;+&space;4&space;)&space;+&space;8^{2}$

=  11 x  14 + $8^{2}$

=11 x 14 +16

=154 +16

=170

(vii)  $\mathbf{(6+4)^{2}}$

+ (11 + 10 ÷ 2 )

Sol. $\mathbf{(6+4)^{2}}$  + (11 + 10 ÷ 2 )  =  $(10)^{2}$

+ (11+5)

=100  +16

=116

(viii)11 x 10 – 12 ÷ 3

Sol.  11 x 10 – 12 ÷ 3  = 11 x 10 -4

= 110-4

=106

(ix)  (10 + 43 – 5 ) ÷  $\mathbf{6+5^{2}}$

Sol. (10 + 43 – 5 ) ÷  $6+5^{2}$

=(53-5)  ÷ 6 +$5^{2}$

= 48 ÷ 6 + $5^{2}$

= 48 ÷ 6 + 25

= 8 +25

=23

(x) 10 ÷ 5 + 10 – 9 x 11

Sol. 10 ÷ 5 + 10 – 9 x 11  = 2 +10 -9 x 11

=2 +10 -99

=12-99

=-87

(xi) (20 + 80 ÷ 2 × 8) ÷ [(54 ÷ 9 + 14) ÷ 4]

Sol. (20 + 80 ÷ 2 × 8) ÷ [(54 ÷ 9 + 14) ÷ 4] = (20 + 40 × 8) ÷ [(6 + 14) ÷ 4]

=(20 + 320) ÷ [20 ÷ 4]

=340 ÷ 5

=68

(xii)  9 ÷ 3 × {2 × [(16 × 4) ÷ 8]}

Sol. 9 ÷ 3 × {2 × [(16 × 4) ÷ 8]}= 9 ÷ 3 × {2 × [64 ÷ 8]}

=9 ÷ 3 × {2 × 8}

=9 ÷ 3 × 16

= 3 x 16

=48
