What Are Integers?
Integers are whole numbers that can be positive, negative, or zero. In another words
Integers are numbers without decimals or fractions. Examples:
Positive integers: 1, 2, 3, 10
Negative integers: -1, -2, -5, -10
Zero: 0
On the number line, numbers to the right of 0 are positive and numbers to the left of 0 are negative. So, integers include all these numbers together …, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, …
Rules for Integer Multiplication
To understand how to do integers multiplication, remember the following rules:

Step 2: Apply sign rules. Use the sign table above.
Examples :
Example 1: 3 × 4 = 12
(Both positive → answer is positive)
(Different signs → negative)
Example 3 : -7 × -8 = 56(Same negative signs → positive)
How Do We Divide Integers?
To divide integers use the same rules that are used to multiply integers. It means when both the numbers have the same signs , the answer will be positive and when the numbers have different signs, answer will be negative.Division Rules
- (+ ÷ +) = +
- (- ÷ -) = +
- (+ ÷ -) = –
- (- ÷ +) = –
Example: 10 ÷ 0 = Not defined
(Different signs → negative)
Solution. Step 1: –3 × 4 =-12
Step 2: -12 × -2 = 24
Final Answer = 24
(Same signs → positive)
(Different signs → negative)
